Job Summary:  Northern suburban international firm needs a Procurement Manager who can lead small team of buyers. Negotiate with vendors. Create contracts from company templates. Must be able to communicate abstract ideas from R&D department to your team. Analyze data. Resolve issues with team and with vendors. Work closely with SQE to maintain quality of purchased items. Build relationships with vendors. Must keep detailed records. Some international travel (1 or 2 times) per year.       

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and supervise procurement team
  • Negotiate with suppliers
  • Communicate between purchasing and other departments
  • Work with vendors to maintain quality and keep to agreements
  • Write and submit RFP’s to be used for contract negotiations
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years procurement experience and 3 years leading/supervising
  • Strong computer skills and MRP experience especially SAP
  • Manufacturing experience and a strong understanding of the manufacturing process (NOT MRO or electrical components manufacturing)
  • Excellent communication skills especially an ability to relay abstract ideas
  • Understanding the difference between managing people and leading a team
  • Ability to go on 1 or 2 international trips per year
